Cobra Golf goes ahead with planned U.S. Open introduction of its Pars & Stripes Speedzone drivers

The U.S. Open was scheduled to be played this week and the ramifications of its postponement extended beyond the event as companies often plan promotions surrounding the event. One such campaign, however, is going off as scheduled as Cobra Golf is introducing its red, white and blue limited edition Pars & Stripes Speedzone and Speedzone Xtreme drivers.

The drivers boast the technology of the original Speedzone and Speedzone Xtreme models but in a new color scheme with a white crown, red and blue highlights on the sole and a blue PVD finish on the face. The shaft is the Fujikura Ventus Blue while the red, white and blue Lamkin Crossline Connect grip completes the national championship-inspired theme.

The Speedzone is available in a 9-degree loft but with the MyFly8 hosel can be adjusted anywhere from 7.5 to 10.5 degrees with three draw settings and the more forgiving, higher moment of inertia Speedzone Xtreme is available in 10.5 degrees with adjustability ranging from 9 to 12 degrees with three draw settings.

The drivers feature the latest expansion of the CNC milling process on the face that was introduced with the King F9 Speedback drivers. That unique approach, in which every curve and thickness of the face is milled through computer controls in an effort to eliminate a great deal of the hand finishing work found on most drivers, now expands beyond the face to new machined areas at the perimeter, the topline and leading edge, saving weight and improving face deflection while also allowing for more exacting curvature of the face’s dual roll and face bulge. This not only provides multiple curves within the same face, but distinct bulge and roll profiles geared to each loft.

The drivers also employ a more generous use of carbon fiber with half of the surface area of the bodies of the Speedzone and Speedzone Xtreme drivers made of lightweight carbon composite whereas in the King F8 the amount barely occupied a third of that area, resulting in additional weight savings that can be repositioned to better enhance each model’s design goals.

The limited edition Pars & Stripes Speedzone and Speedzone Xtreme are available at leading retailers as well as at cobragolf.com in regular and stiff shaft flex (X-flex available via custom order) in right hand only at a price of $549.
