Butch Harmon on How to Improve Your Backswing | Golf Tips | Golf Digest

Tips
Golf instructor Butch Harmon shows Golf Digest how to improve your backswing: Extend your hands away from your body going back, and you’ll have more power coming down.

Transcript
When you’re thinking about making your backswing longer,
don’t fake it.
What I mean by faking it, don’t just take your hands
and arms and go to the top of your swing.
Just because you get your hands and arms up here,
doesn’t mean you’re going to have any power.
If you want to make a good backswing,
it doesn’t have to be long,
it has to have a full shoulder turn.
So your thought, let your weight go in the direction
the club goes, get your left shoulder behind the ball,
and go ahead and rip it.
That’s the way to make a backswing.
