Puma Golf releases cool collection inspired by FedEx Cup playoff host cities

With truncated schedules across golf, basketball and hockey, it seems like there is a playoff happening every time you flip on TV—and there probably is. While the first round of the NBA playoffs commences in Orlando and the NHL is split between Edmonton and Toronto to battle for the Stanley Cup, the PGA Tour’s playoff series starts in Boston this week. To help celebrate the start of golf playoff season, Puma Golf launched three capsules dedicated to each of the host cities—Boston, Chicago and Atlanta. The company hopes its unique collection will get the attention of even casual sports fans with a snapback, adjustable cap and golf shoes for each major city.

The Boston Series celebrates the first playoff event of the 2020 FedExCup, The Northern Trust, being played at TPC Boston. The Boston City Snapback Cap ($35) is white with Kelly Green lettering and brim as a nod to both the city’s Irish heritage and their favorite NBA team.

Inspired by the coastal location of the city, the Fishing Company Adjustable Cap ($32) has a more relaxed fit and an ultra-unique patch design. It’s also got a hidden lobster-inspired seam tape to add extra Beantown style.

At first glance the Ignite NXT Lobstah Pot Shoes ($140) might not seem Boston-related, but Puma designers incorporated a subtle lobster claw print on the outsole, a boiling pot on the sock liner and bright laces modeled after the strings used during fishing season.

Ready for when the playoffs head to Chicago, the Transit 110 Snapback Cap ($32) pays homage to the Chicago Transit Authority. With a patch in “CTA blue” coloring and four red stars as a nod to the Chicago city flag, the cap’s subtle details will only be recognized by the truest Chi-town fans.

The Ignite PWRADAPT Caged CTA Golf Shoes ($190) feature similar design elements to the Transit Cap. Recognizing that the BMW Championship host course, Olympia Fields Country Club, is accessible by guests via the Chicago public transportation, designers added a map of the transit line on the outsole. The primarily white shoe is enhanced with “CTA Blue” across the outsole, lateral cage, sock liner and in a faded coloring at the heel of the midsole.

With a red and white motif, the Ignite PROADAPT ATL Golf Shoes ($240) celebrate the culmination of the FedEx Cup playoffs at East Lake C.C. in Atlanta. Red chrome at the outsole of the shoe are the highlight of the design creating a lux and unmistakable statement piece.

The Atlanta P Snapback Cap ($35) is a remix of the trademark Puma P Cap with a retro “P” that was inspired by the Braves’ logo. Crossed golf clubs at the side give the hat an extra golf-y touch and the bold colorway was inspired by the city’s sports teams that all feature a unique shade of red.

Rounding out the three-city golf cap collection from Puma, the Atlanta Cap ($35) is white and red with a retro baseball feel to the styling. Expect to see these snapbacks worn by Puma ambassador Rickie Fowler in each of the hat’s respective cities.

While not city-exclusive, Puma also dropped a sweatshirt themed after the entire playoff run. The Express Crewneck ($80) has a fun throwback graphic that incorporates colors from each host city. It also features a unique “Express” label at the side that was inspired by vintage crewneck styling.
