PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan announced on Thursday that tournaments over the next several weeks will be played as scheduled, without fans, because of concerns over the spread of the coronavirus.
Acknowledging the situation is “incredibly fluid and dynamic,” Monahan said that beginning on Friday at the Players Championship, only essential personnel would be allowed on the grounds at TPC Sawgrass. He said that precaution would be repeated over the next three weeks, at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla., the WGC-Match Play Championship in Austin, and the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio. Monahan said the Corales Puntcana Resort & Club Championship, scheduled for March 26-29 in the Dominican Republic, would be postponed and rescheduled.
The decision covers all tours organized by the PGA Tour.
