Masters 2020 tee times: Starting times and pairings for Thursday and Friday at Augusta National

Courses

At no golf tournament is tradition more celebrated than the Masters. Which is why when a recent Augusta National press release about the broadcast of this year’s tournament noted this point in the 16th and penultimate paragraph, it wound up receiving as much attention in the days afterward than anything else in the announcement.

“Tee times will be announced at a later date, but players will be scheduled to start off the first and 10th tees in two waves the first two rounds.”

Indeed, a two-tee start is rare at Augusta National—it’s one of the benefits of having a field that annually hovers around 90-plus competitors. It’s also why the conceit of starting off the 10th tee and facing Amen Corner early in a round is so tricky for players to wrap their minds around.

“That’s going to be very awkward,” conceded three-time Masters Phil Mickelson.

Mind you, half the field who made the cut at the Masters a year ago experienced this when tournament officials were forced to move up times and implement a two-tee start for the final round due to forecasted bad weather for Sunday afternoon.

What’s expected to remain the same, however, are other familiar tee-time traditions. Defending Masters champion Tiger Woods will be paired with 2019 U.S. Amateur champion Andy Ogletree, and other former green jacket winners are expected to be paired with other amateur participants.

Below is the complete 94-player field. Tee times have yet to be set, but check back here and we’ll have them posted as soon as they go live.
