After 78 minutes of a 0-0 game, the tide turned completely in favor of Dortmund thanks to a decisive penalty call. Thorgan Hazard drew the penalty in the box for Dortmund, forcing an uncharacteristic Zenit mistake. Jadon Sancho took the penalty shot for Dortmund and made Zenit pay by burying it in the back of the net and giving Dortmund the ever important 1-0 lead. Then in the 90’+1 Dortmund added an insurance goal when Erling Braut Haaland got through the Zenit defense to rifle it home. The goal marks his 12th in just 10 Champions League games.
Dortmund held on for the 2-0 win, getting the much needed rebound win after dropping their first match in Group F action.
