For starters, let’s acknowledge that these chunky Puma golf shoes are not for everyone. But here’s what you need to know about the new RS-G shoes that has fashion-forward golfers rejoicing: The chunky 1980s shoe style is resurging in fashion over the past few years. Now it’s making its debut in golf. Trendy products are often referred to as “dad shoes,” and it’s a look popular in men’s and women’s fashion. The bulky shoe trend came into vogue because of its unconventional look, but the ultra-comfortable wear contributed to its lasting power in the style world.

Puma’s RS-G golf shoes ($130) were inspired by the company’s popular RS series of street shoes, which debuted in the ’80s. Puma re-released the kicks in 2019, and so the golf team took the retro silhouette, seam-sealed the upper to make the shoe completely waterproof and added strategically placed carbon rubber lugs for traction. A foam midsole and sockliner add even more comfort.

This look is often paired with tube socks in the fashion world, but we recommend trying the trend with no-show socks. Pair the shoe with a dark-fitted jogger pant or solid pair of golf shorts for a fashion-forward look that’ll impress even your most style-obsessed golf buddies.

Available in men’s or women’s versions, the shoe comes in simple and colorful shades. The men’s version comes in a white and grey option, a black colorway or a grey pair with hints of red. On the women’s side ($100), the shoe comes in white and grey, all-black or pink.
